Giuseppe Eskenazi, Prostate Centre patient and one of the world’s leading dealers in oriental art, hosted an exclusive champagne reception at his Eskenazi Gallery in Mayfair yesterday. The fundraising event, with tickets sold in aid of The Urology Foundation (TUF), centred around an exhibition of exquisite antique Chinese paintings.
Introducing the reception, TUF’s chairman, Steven Norris, explained that the motivation for the evening was to raise funds for research into biomarkers for prostate cancer to enhance early diagnosis and intervention.
During the evening, another Prostate Centre patient, comedy legend Ronnie Corbett, entertained the party with a hilarious, completely improvised stand-up routine. The reception – a fascinating and highly enjoyable mix of classical art, medical talk and vintage showbiz entertainment – was a huge success, raising in excess of £35,000.
TUF plans to hold a similar champagne reception, hosted by patient Johnny Van Haeften at his own Van Haeften Gallery in London on 11 November 2010. For more information, contact TUF.
