The recent discovery of more than 30 so-called ‘prostate cancer susceptibility genes’ raises the possibility of targeted screening of those men who have the highest risk of developing the aggressive form of prostate cancer. This is likely to involve close surveillance by PSA testing, MRI scanning and prostate biopsy.
