Smoking Increases the Risk of Prostate Cancer Recurrence and Mortality
Studies of smoking in relation to prostate cancer mortality or recurrence in prostate cancer patients are limited.
However, a recent study, published in The Journal of American Medical Association, evaluated whether cigarette smoking increases the risk of prostate cancer mortality, as well as the link between smoking and prostate cancer recurrence.
The conclusions were based on observations made of 5366 men diagnosed with prostate cancer between 1986 and 2006. It showed that there was an increased risk among men who were current or recent smokers at the time of diagnosis.
So, the moral of the story? Don’t smoke!
