Heather specialises in the management of urological malignancies and is actively involved in clinical research. As well as her research into hormones and radiotherapy she has pioneered a programme of high-dose rate (HDR) brachytherapy which is a minimally invasive treatment for prostate cancer. Currently chairman of the British Uro-oncology Group (BUG), Heather serves on the Prostate Cancer Charter for Action and the Department of Health Prostate Cancer Advisory Group; she is a Trustee of Prostate UK and of the Prostate Cancer Research Centre. She enjoys and has particular expertise in helping patients with quality of life and decision-making issues with regard to their treatment options.
